Aborting Abortion
The Pill That Kills
Narrowed Topic: RU-486, commonly called the morning-after pill, is administered to rape victims without their consent.

Thesis: Mifeprex, or RU-486, should not be offered to rape victims, even if they desire the drug.
Arguments:
- The administration of such a drug would conflict with some women’s religious practices. Women of many faiths believe the drug should not be offered. The Catholic Church, in particular, believes that any contraceptive is prohibited by God’s Word.
- Consequences of taking the drug may include the death of mother. If the mother takes the pill and dies, two deaths result. If the woman takes the drug and only the baby dies, one death results. If the woman continues the pregnancy, most likely two people will live.
- The administration of the drug is standard procedure in most hospitals.
- If unsuccessful, doctors may resort to surgical abortion.
- Makes abortion too quick and too easy.

So–you’re taking a far right (conservative) position that the pill shouldn’t even be available! How will you respond to those who argue that just as it is the woman’s choice to have an abortion, it too is a woman’s choice to take RU-486?

Abortion is abortion, no matter how you present your argument (or try to hide it). Technically, the administration of the morning-after pill is a specific type of abortion. If I am going to be opposed to one type of abortion, I must be opposed to all types of abortion.

Sorry, but I disagree. I have to say that although I dislike the idea of abortion there are some acceptions. For example; if you are a teenage girl who has been raped you probably won’t want to keep the baby for several different reasons. Not to mention the fact that some women are not able to give birth. Atemping this could cause both the mother and the baby to die. No, abortion is not always a reasonable alternative but sometimes it’s the only option available.

As for the “Pill” argument, why would you be against that? It helps control population and decreases the number of abortions. I seriously can not understand your opinion on this one, I mean, if you don’t want to get pregnant or get a girl pregnant than it seems like a good alternative to abstinence. And, let’s be honest here, you know kids now days will not just stop having sex.

Hey, want to know what prevents abortion and teen pregnancy?
Homosexuality.

@sonicdrinks: a very small percentage of abortions are because a woman is raped, and even if a woman or girl is sexually abused, does that child not deserve the chance to live? If she can’t care for the baby, she should let a family adopt it and allow it the chance to live instead of snubbing out its life because it would be too much for her to handle. You know what controls the population and decreases the number of abortion? Abstinence. Yes, it is a fact that most teenagers will have sex, but how much more is that number multiplied if there are no consequences for reckless behavior? I happen to believe that there’s a reason that so many bad things like unplanned pregnancies, diseases, and such can come from reckless and casual sex and that is that it shouldn’t be happening. Whatever your ideology, it is obvious even in secular circles that teenage sex is more than often extremely harmful to the people involved. Usually, they are no where near ready emotionally to handle it. Our culture is so fixed on taking away consequences that they are giving birth control to our middle-schoolers and readily providing pills that will magically erase people’s mistakes. When you look at it morally, there just shouldn’t be a little pill that takes a baby’s life away.
& Homosexuality doesn’t really prevent those things, it just doesn’t result in them directly. You know though, so I won’t go into it, that casual sex of that orientation also results in situations just as harmful.
