I am currently reading Skin by Ted Dekker.

From the back cover:  A freak storm that spawned three tornadoes bears down on the town of Summerville. The title of the book, Dumbing Down Our Kids, jumped out at me when I first saw it.  It was as if the author of the book had read my mind.  As a student with a mother in the education system, I’ve been exposed to the education system quite a bit.  I’ve often wondered if we (my age-group) are as “smart” as our grandparent’s generation when they were our age.

• So far, the author has used relatively no ethos.  Being unfamiliar with the author, I still know very little about him.  Is he reliable?  What does he do for a living?  Why is he qualified to discuss education?
