Skin

I am currently reading Skin by Ted Dekker.

From the back cover:  A freak storm that spawned three tornadoes bears down on the town of Summerville. Yet under cover of the storm looms a much more ominous threat: a vindictive killer known as Red who’s left a string of victims in his wake and is now bent on exacting his revenge on the unsuspecting citizens.  But an enigma surrounds Red that the FBI is unwilling to admit - closely guarded secrets of something gone terribly wrong beneath the skin of Summerville, secrets capable of destroying far more than one small town.

Dumbing Down Our Kids

The title of the book, Dumbing Down Our Kids, jumped out at me when I first saw it.  It was as if the author of the book had read my mind.  As a student with a mother in the education system, I’ve been exposed to the education system quite a bit.  I’ve often wondered if we (my age-group) are as “smart” as our grandparent’s generation when they were our age.

  • So far, the author has used relatively no ethos.  Being unfamiliar with the author, I still know very little about him.  Is he reliable?  What does he do for a living?  Why is he qualified to discuss education?
